2022 Audi e-tron 2022 Q4 e-tron
The 2022 Audi e-tron has a sci-fi-sounding name that teases its all-electric nature, but otherwise it looks like and acts much like a traditional mid-size luxury SUV. Its coupe like counterpart, the e-tron Sport back, has a more interesting appearance but still doesn’t command nearly as much attention as the gull-winged Tesla Model X or the jazzy Jaguar I-Pace. While Audi skips the typical EV styling that appeals to the tech crowd, both e-trons boast a sophisticated and tranquil interior, with the fastback Sportback sacrificing some practicality for fashion’s sake. A pair of potent electric motors provide all-wheel drive and near-instant acceleration, but both versions are better at cruising than cornering. The 2022 e-tron and e-tron Sport back have short range estimates (218 and 222 miles, respectively),
Audi has great plans for the luxury electric car market, and the Q4 e-tron and Q4 e-tron Sport back SUVs will quadruple the company’s EV-focused e-tron line-up in 2022. The Q4 siblings are smaller than the mid-size e-tron SUV and have a footprint similar to the compact Q5 crossover. A more powerful 295-hp dual-motor arrangement with all-wheel drive is offered, while the base powertrain is a single 201-hp electric motor and a 77.0-kWh battery pack. The battery pack is touted to provide a driving range of up to 241 miles per charge. When the Q4 e-tron variants go on sale, they will compete with other compact electric SUVs like the Tesla Model Y and the Volvo XC40 Recharge.
What’s new in AUDI for 2022?
For 2022, the Audi Q4 e-tron and Q4 e-tron Sportback are completely new vehicles. They join Audi’s fast-growing electric-vehicle lineup, which includes the bigger e-tron SUVs and the sporty e-tron GT sedan. With a starting price of $44,995, the Q4 e-tron is actually less expensive to buy than the Q5 SUV. The more powerful 295-hp 50 variant is recommended, but those who prefer a coupe-like style to their SUV can choose the swoopier Sportback model, which features the same dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain.
EV Motor, Performance, and Power
The base powertrain is known as the 40, and it features a single 201-hp electric motor with rear-wheel drive. That’s the same setup as the mechanically comparable Volkswagen ID.4, which clocked in at 60 mph in 7.6 seconds on our test track. The more powerful all-wheel drive Q4 e-tron 50 and Q4 e-tron Sportback 50 make 295 horsepower thanks to an electric motor on each axle. The result is a claimed 6.2-second zero-to-60 time. This isn’t as rapid as the Audi Q5 SUV’s gasoline engine, but it’s still swift when compared to comparable gas-powered compact premium crossovers. The ride should be smooth thanks to adjustable suspension. When we get a chance to test drive the Q4 e-tron vehicles, we’ll know for sure.
Cargo, Interior, and Comfort
The inside is a technological exhibition of Audi’s most cutting-edge technology. The inside of the Q4 e-tron is similar to that of other Audis, but it has a few unique features like a squared-off steering wheel with touch-sensitive controls and a toggle-switch gear selector. Despite the fact that the Q4 e-tron concept was only exhibited as a four-seater, the production version would seat five. The passenger space should be comparable to that of the gas-powered Q5. However, cargo space isn’t as generous.
